The Count of Monte Cristo

The Count of Monte Cristo

The Count of Monte Cristo is an Adventure novel written by famous French writer Alexandre Dumas. This one of the most famous novels written by him and a book which is known has a classic and translated into more than 100 languages.

The story happens in France and Italy during 1815–1838. Even though it's an adventure novel the writer is more focused on human feelings and nature showing themes like hope, justice, vengeance, mercy and forgiveness. The story is about a man who is wrongfully imprisoned but later escapes and finds a fortune his will to use it to getting revenge on those responsible for his imprisonment. But finally he realize his plans devastating effect which makes many suffer not guilty but also innocent.

The original The Count of  Monte Cristo book is really big. The first one I read came in 7 volumes. So if you want to read the whole book but some compressed version of it then you need to be careful to buy the right version for you. Original books length is 5 times the average book. Penguin Classics, The Count of  Monte Cristo book is one the best you can get from those out there.

The Black Tulip

The Black Tulip

The Black Tulip one of the greatest historical romance novel written by Alexandre Dumas. A beautiful story about a young innocent Botanist who were about to create the Black Tulip but dragged in to violent political conflict happening in Holland and ended up in prison for life. But he wouldn't stop his goal of creating this beautiful flower and he finds a companion for his adventure from prison, prison guard's beautiful daughter and at end she is the one who save him from death.

It's a beautiful story and I remember I much I enjoyed reading this Alexandre Dumas master piece. It shows emotions and human nature and how it react in desperate times. Anyone who love reading romance or historical classic books would love this one.

Classic Books

Classics is the branch of the Humanities comprising the languages, literature, philosophy, history, art, archaeology and other culture of the ancient Mediterranean World; especially Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome during Classical Antiquity (Bronze Age ca. BC 3000 – Dark Ages ca. AD 500). Initially, study of the Classics (the period’s literature) was the principal study in the humanities. Traditionally, the Classics studied the Mediterranean civilizations of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome, yet, Ancient Egypt was beyond the discipline.

Most classics are many many years old and are very good books, but the word is sometimes pressed into use to describe newer works. Classics also share very good reviews from magazines, and critics. Many classic books are, because of their age, now out of copyright and in the public domain, and of these a large number are freely available on-line from sources such as Project Gutenberg, many university websites or commercial sites such as Literature Junction and The Literature Network.

The phrase 'classic book' or 'classic literature' has taken on new meaning - many view any pre-1900 book still in print as a classic, or titles that is hundred years or older and still in print, and many books are classed as modern classics because of their contemporary significance or perceived future significance..

Ok that's what all Wikipedia says about Classics and Classic books. I have been a fan of English and American classic books like Tom Sawyer, Oliver Twist etc since I was a young boy. Those books always carried me to those old times and made me feel like I'm living in those stories.
